Overview of the project:
This project consists in creating two 4-star hotels in the municipalities of Manteigas and Alter do Chão, where the hotels Vila Galé Serra da Estrela and Vila Galé Collection Alter Real will be located.
Vila Galé Serra da Estrela Hotel
The Vila Galé Serra da Estrela Hotel will be built in broad glacial valley, in the area bordering the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, between the trout farm and the Zêzere River, a quiet place, between two slopes with wide views to the town of Manteigas, which combines unique conditions for setting up a hotel unit.
The Hotel will feature 91 rooms, an event hall, a meeting room, a Versátil restaurant with differentiated gastronomic offer, lobby bar, gym, SPA, indoor pool and outdoor pool.
The SPA will be a special component of this Hotel, where besides the usual services (Turkish bath, sauna, Vichy massages), it is specialized in Anti-aging programs, including diagnosis, dermatology and nutrition appointments, and specific massages.
Themed after the restoration of the ways, customs, myths, legends and traditions of the mountain regions, Serra da Estrela, Beira Alta and Trás-os-Montes, the restaurants will be another of the Hotel's main focuses, by recovering several traditions of the shepherds' gastronomy, with emphasis on Corona Beans, in partnership with Confraria da Feijoca (Corona bean Confraternity).
With this Hotel, the VG Group intends to enhance this area of the country's inland, using the region's differentiating assets, such as the Serra da Estrela weather and nature, to capture new markets and provide them with unique snow, nature and gastronomy experiences from our country.
Vila Galé Collection Alter Real Hotel
The Hotel Vila Galé Alter Real is based on the recovery and reconversion of part of the facilities of the emblematic project that the Alter do Chão Stud Farm represents - the country house, the former stables, the administrative building and the former pigpens - in a hotel fully connected to the Equestrian theme and the Lusitano/Alter Real horse.
The Stud Farm is the only space in the world that coexists with: a Molecular Genetics Laboratory, the National Horse Register, a Veterinary Clinic Unit, the Professional School of Rural Development, a Production and Sports Complex, and a Museum Center, to which this project will add a hotel unit.
Due to the described characteristics, this Hotel will be a highly differentiating product among the local, national and international offer.
For the Vila Galé Group, the possibility of intervening in the Alter Stud Farm is a unique opportunity, not only for its high value of architectural heritage, but also for the great horse breeding legacy it represents in the preservation and enhancement of the genetic and cultural heritage with the Alter Real brand.
Vila Galé intends to respect the pre-existing constructions as much as possible, maintaining its internal life whenever possible, and therefore the entire program was meticulously articulated with the venues.
As a result of this rehabilitation, the Hotel will have 76 rooms (including 10 suites); an event hall and a meeting room; a Versátil restaurant with a differentiated gastronomic offer, based on the Alto Alentejo cuisine (interconnected with our hotel unit in Elvas); bar, wine cellar and library; indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and a SPA (also specialized in the Anti-aging aspect).
Based on a policy of environmental sustainability and social commitment, in these units we intend to develop the innovative concept of “Plastic-free” Hotel, by adopting new practices/products, eliminating the so-called “single-use plastics” and replacing them with products made of alternative materials (biodegradable, wood, cardboard), and thus reducing the operation’s impact on the environment and the community.
