Implementation of the project % – 100%
Overview of the project:
The present project consists of creating a 4-star hotel unit in the city of Elvas, based on recovering the former São Paulo Convent and Church and adapting its facilities to hospitality purposes.
Guarding the main border between Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, and Madrid, the capital of Spain, the Elvas city garrison, set in a rugged landscape near the Guadiana river, was fortified between the 17th and 19th centuries, making it the largest walled defensive system surrounded by a dry moat of the world, endowed with fortifications built in the surrounding hills to meet new defense needs.
The São Paulo Convent, built within the walls of Elvas, classified as a National Monument (NM) and a World Heritage Site by UNESCO - designated Elvas Border and Garrison City and its Fortifications, represents a building with a strong heritage nature, for its architecture and its history and for how important it is to the city.
As a result of this building’s rehabilitation, the Vila Galé Elvas Hotel will feature 66 rooms (including 5 suites), a convention hall for about 400 people, two restaurants with a differentiated gastronomic offer, bar, wine cellar, library, SPA, indoor pool and indoor parking.
Besides representing an added value, the hotel use of a building with these unique characteristics will undeniably be a highly differentiating element among the existing offer (at a local, national and international levels).
This project also includes the implementation of a concept that the Group has been developing within the scope of Tourism becoming digital, where it intends to make the VG Collection Elvas Hotel a paper-free hotel, by using new techniques and equipment/software, and allow clients to experience their interaction with the hotel in a different way.
