New Projects

In the centre of João Pessoa, the former Pio XII School will be restored to become Vila Galé Collection das Artes. The project includes an 80-room hotel, featuring two restaurants, a spa, a swimming pool, and a Nep Club, a dedicated area for children. Construction is expected to begin in the second half of this year, contributing to the preservation of the city’s heritage and the enhancement of João Pessoa’s tourism offering.

In Florianópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, Vila Galé will open Vila Galé Florianópolis, a 309-room hotel scheduled to open in April 2028, further strengthening the group’s presence in Brazil’s leading urban and seaside destinations.

Vila Galé will arrive in Maranhão with two new projects in the charming historic centre of São Luís.

The hotels will feature 67 and 45 rooms, respectively, and will operate under the Collection sub-brand.

“We will transform the first buildings we visited, which formerly housed the Public Defender’s Office and Casa do Maranhão, into our hotels. São Luís’ Historic Centre is rich in history and beauty, and it captivated me from our very first visit. We are truly excited about our arrival in the state,” said Jorge Rebelo de Almeida

Vila Galé will restore the historic Quinta da Cardiga, in Golegã, to create Vila Galé Collection Tejo – Country Resort Hotel, Convention, Spa & Equestrian Sports. Classified as a property of public interest since 1952, this centuries-old estate will be revitalised and returned to the community through a project that combines tradition and modernity.

Inspired by the history of the Knights Templar and the Order of Christ, the project will be developed in two phases. The first phase will restore the estate’s main complex, including the Palace, the Olive Mill and the Barn, creating 71 rooms. The second phase will redevelop the group of buildings located in the northern part of the property, currently unused, adding a further 45 rooms and a large event hall.

Vila Galé will restore the historic Paço Real de Caxias, in Oeiras, to create Vila Galé Collection Paço Real de Caxias. The project includes the development of a 120-room hotel, scheduled to open in 2027, strengthening the brand’s presence in the Lisbon metropolitan area with a property of outstanding historical heritage.

In Brumadinho, in the state of Minas Gerais, Vila Galé is preparing to open a new 312-room hotel, scheduled to open in 2028, as part of a large-scale development that reinforces the group’s expansion strategy in Brazil.

In Miranda do Douro, Vila Galé Collection Mirandum is set to open, a project that celebrates the region’s identity and landscape. The new hotel will feature 100 rooms and is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2027, reinforcing Vila Galé’s commitment to Portugal’s inland regions.

Vila Galé will restore the former Penacova Hotel, which has been closed for around 20 years, to create Vila Galé Collection Penacova. The project includes the renovation of the former Preventorium and the adjacent former hospital building, while preserving the existing heritage, with particular emphasis on maintaining the Art Deco façade and rebuilding the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia.

Set in a privileged location overlooking the Mondego River, the hotel celebrates its connection with the surrounding landscape and the cultural identity of Penacova. Vila Galé Collection Penacova will be a themed hotel dedicated to the history of humour, developed in partnership with Fernando Alvim and Nuno Artur Silva, celebrating the art of making people laugh through an immersive and creative experience.

This hotel will feature two distinct concepts: one under the sophisticated Collection sub-brand, with 144 rooms, and the other an aparthotel with 252 apartments. Located by the beach, the resort will also offer five restaurants, a Nep Club with a water park, slide, trampolines and playground, a convention centre, and a Satsanga Spa.

Designed entirely for younger guests, Vila Galé Coruripe Nep Kids will be a themed resort with 350 rooms, dedicated to families and the world of children, reinforcing Vila Galé’s commitment to distinctive concepts in the family leisure segment.

In the Azores, on Terceira Island, Vila Galé is preparing to open Vila Galé Collection Terceira, a 106-room hotel scheduled to open in 2028. The new property will strengthen the group’s presence in the archipelago and reinforce its commitment to destinations with a strong connection to nature and local culture.

Vila Galé Collection Palácio Almada Carvalhais is Vila Galé’s newest boutique hotel, housed in the historic Palácio dos Almadas, located at Largo do Conde Barão in Lisbon.

This 16th-century national monument is currently being restored to accommodate around 110 rooms in a four-star hotel, blending Renaissance and Baroque architecture with contemporary comfort. Expected to open between 2026 and 2027, the project represents a strong commitment to cultural and sustainable tourism, combining luxury, history, and exclusivity in one of the city’s most iconic buildings.
