Vila Galé has saved 13,350 meals since joining the Too Good To Go app on 29 September 2022, International Food Loss and Waste Awareness Day.

By making the most of surplus food from participating establishments at reduced prices through surprise bags, this performance has prevented the emission of 36 tonnes of CO2, which corresponds to 126 days of hot showers or 14 flights from Lisbon to Tokyo, Japan.

The 13,350 surprise bags saved also had a strong impact on land use, with around 37,000 square metres of land saved, an area equal to 143 tennis courts or five football pitches. And the consumption of ten million litres of water was avoided, which would be enough to fill four Olympic swimming pools or produce five tonnes of rice.

There are currently several options for surprise bags at Vila Galé hotels. At Vila Galé Porto, Vila Galé Porto Ribeira, Vila Galé Coimbra, Vila Galé Cascais, Vila Galé Ópera (Lisbon), Vila Galé Lagos, Vila Galé Náutico (Armação de Pera), Vila Galé Atlântico (Praia da Galé), Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa (Albufeira), Vila Galé Ampalius (Vilamoura), Vila Galé Marina (Vilamoura), Vila Galé Tavira, Vila Galé Albacora (Tavira) and Vila Galé Collection São Miguel (Ponta Delgada, Azores), breakfast baskets are available for €2.99. They include two pieces of bakery, a portion of mini sausage and three mini pieces of pastry.
They can be collected on a daily basis between 11.00 am and 12.30 pm.

In turn, at Vila Galé Porto Ribeira, Vila Galé Cascais, Vila Galé Ópera (Lisbon) and Vila Galé Collection São Miguel (Ponta Delgada, Azores), on Sundays there’s a brunch surprise bag (€3.99).

And at the Vila Galé Lagos, Vila Galé Náutico (Armação de Pera) Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa (Albufeira) and Vila Galé Cascais hotels you can also order lunch and dinner for €4.99. These surprise bags contain two bakery items, a soup or salad, a dish of the day, and a dessert.

To purchase the surprise bags, all you have to do is download the free Too Good To Go app, through which payment is also processed. Pick-up is done in person at the chosen hotel.
