Vila Galé strengthens global growth

And announces new units

The Vila Galé Group has reached an important milestone in its journey. In just one year, it moved from 122nd to 105th place in the annual Hotels magazine ranking, one of the most respected publications in the sector, which lists the world’s largest hotel chains based on the number of rooms in operation. The result refers to 2024, when the group had 9,947 rooms across 45 hotels. This rise reinforces the consolidation of the Portuguese chain among the leading global players in hospitality.

In 2025, with 52 hotels operating in Portugal, Brazil, Spain, and Cuba, totaling 11,764 rooms, Vila Galé is expected to join, for the first time, the group of the world’s top 100 hotel chains. This result reflects the company’s strategic vision, supported by a solid expansion plan.

Group climbs in the global ranking of the world’s largest hotel chains

Until 2027, the Vila Galé Group plans to open nine new properties, expanding its presence in strategic regions of Portugal and Brazil. “We are investing in projects that promote tourism, combining history, culture, and sustainability. The goal is to always deliver a truly distinctive experience,” highlights Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, founder and president of the group.

In Portugal, five new hotels will be inaugurated: Vila Galé Miranda do Douro, Vila Galé Penacova, Vila Galé Paço Real de Caxias, Vila Galé Tejo (at Quinta da Cardiga), and Palácio Almada Carvalhais, in Conde Barão, Lisbon. In Brazil, the network strengthens its presence with four new projects: Vila Galé Collection São Luís, Vila Galé Collection Maranhão, Vila Galé Collection Coruripe Alagoas, and Vila Galé Nep Kids Coruripe Alagoas, dedicated exclusively to children.

With these new developments, Vila Galé will reach a total of 61 hotels and 12,764 rooms by 2027.

From the renovation of historic buildings to the construction of impressive all-inclusive resorts, Vila Galé demonstrates that expansion and identity can go hand in hand.
