Vila Galé officially announces its first development in Florianópolis

The group’s president and the state governor formalized the implementation of the hotel during a ceremony in the capital of Santa Catarina

The Portuguese hotel chain Vila Galé took another important step in its expansion plan in Brazil and officially launched Vila Galé Floripa, its first development in Santa Catarina and in the southern region of the country. The officialization of the hotel’s construction took place last Thursday, the 26th, during a ceremony at Casa D’Agronômica, in Florianópolis (SC). On the occasion, the group’s president and founder, Dr. Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, and the governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello, signed the document approving the project.

The event was attended by authorities, members of the press, and representatives of the Santa Catarina market, who had the opportunity to learn more about the Vila Galé Floripa project, which is expected to be inaugurated by May 2028. On the occasion, the three wineries of the Vila Galé Group were also presented: Santa Vitória, in the Alentejo region; Val Moreira, in the Douro; and Paço do Curutelo, in Ponte de Lima, in the Vinho Verde region. After the presentation, guests were able to taste the wines and olive oils produced by Vila Galé, which were highly appreciated by the participants.

“We are very excited about the official launch of Vila Galé Floripa. Vila Galé is present in nine Brazilian states, but we did not yet have any development in Santa Catarina or in the South of Brazil. We will build a modern and fully equipped hotel that will further boost the region’s hospitality sector, create jobs, and offer top-quality service to our future guests. I would like to thank Governor Jorginho for the partnership, which was essential for the development of this project,” said Dr. Jorge.

Governor Jorginho Mello also took the opportunity to highlight the unique features that make Santa Catarina a perfect travel destination and to praise the partnership with Vila Galé. “We have made great progress in tourism and I am confident we will continue to grow even more with the arrival of an international chain like Vila Galé. Santa Catarina is the most complete state in Brazil for tourism. We have everything here: preserved nature, beautiful beaches, great festivals, adventure, the coldest city in Brazil, snow—everything. And everything is very close to each other; you can plan three or four road trips and explore a lot in just a few days. I just warn you: whoever comes once, comes back two, three, four times… and by the fifth time decides they want to move here.”

With a modern design, Vila Galé Floripa will be built from scratch in Florianópolis, on a 48,000 m² plot located in the Sapiens Technology Park. The development will feature 308 rooms, a lake, and a wide range of services and amenities. These include three restaurants, two bars, an outdoor swimming pool, a spa with a heated indoor pool, a gym, padel, tennis and football courts, as well as a children’s pedal kart track and a Nep Club for kids. The property will also be equipped to host a wide variety of events, with a main hall and three meeting rooms.

Vila Galé currently operates 13 hotel developments in Brazil, and its portfolio includes all-inclusive resorts, city hotels, and properties under the Collection brand, which offer a more personalized service and, more recently, premium all-inclusive packages. These include: Vila Galé Alagoas; Vila Galé Salvador and Vila Galé Marés (Bahia); Vila Galé Fortaleza, Vila Galé Cumbuco and Vila Galé Collection Sunset Cumbuco (Ceará); Vila Galé Collection Ouro Preto (Minas Gerais); Vila Galé Cabo (Pernambuco); Vila Galé Rio de Janeiro and Vila Galé Eco Resort Angra (Rio de Janeiro); Vila Galé Paulista (São Paulo); Vila Galé Touros (Rio Grande do Norte) and Vila Galé Amazônia (Pará).

In addition to Vila Galé Floripa, there are six more developments currently underway in Brazil: two in São Luís (MA), two in Coruripe (AL), one in João Pessoa (PB), and one in Brumadinho (MG).
