Get to know our suggestions for each month:
- June – Moskow Mule
Opening the series “12 months, 12 drinks”, the Moskow Mule will be our June cocktail. This delicious drink came about when two friends, one who sold vodka, and the other who sold ginger beer, joined forces to promote their products. They met at a bar in New York and combined vodka and ginger with lemon juice, sugar and soda water, which went very well and resulted in one of the most requested drinks in recent times.
- July – Red Snapper
In July it will be the turn of the Red Snapper, which contains gin, salt, pepper, pepper sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and tomato juice. This is a tasty version of the classic Red Snapper cocktail! The name does justice to the drink: red and strong. It’s a classic Bloody Mary with gin. Swapping out the vodka provides a new, tasty, spicy, tangy drink with a botanical twist on the gin finish.
- August – Negroni
The Negroni will represent the month of August. This Cocktail was first made in 1919 at Caffè Casoni (formerly Caffè Giacosa, now called Caffè Roberto Cavalli), located on Via de’ Tornabuoni in Florence, Italy. Count Camillo Negroni made the arrangement by asking bartender Fosco Scarselli to make his favourite cocktail, the Americano, stronger by adding gin instead of the usual sparkling water. It takes gin, Campari and Red Vermouth.
- September – Sakerinha
In September we will have the Sakerinha Galé, with national sake, lemon, strawberry, ginger, basil and sugar syrup. This cocktail is signed by Bartender Nuno Teixeira, at Vila Galé Fortaleza, in January 2021. To the traditional freshness of the Strawberry Sakerinha we add the peppery flavour of the ginger and the Basil aroma.
- October – Gin Basil Smash
October will be the season for Gin Basil Smash. It is an adaptation of a drink created in July 2008, initially called Gin Pesto, which easily became popular as Gin Basil Smash, with the aroma and freshness of basil, citrus acidity and the botanical aroma of Gin. Try it! This drink features Gin, basil, lemon juice and sugar syrup.
- November – Passion Fruit Mojito
In November, Passion Fruit Mojito, with rum, mint, passion fruit, lemon juice, sugar syrup and soda water, this more than 100-year-old cocktail does not have its origin as well documented as the Daiquiri or the Cuba-Libre. It is known that it was created at night in Havana with ingredients native to the Caribbean. In addition to rum, it contains sugar (or syrup), mint, lemon and sparkling water. At the bars of Vila Galé Brazil, we reinterpreted this fantastic cocktail. We added passion fruit, leading to an exceptional finish in the palate.
- December – Red Sangria
December’s novelty will be the Red Sangria, with lemon, orange, strawberry, sugar, Brandy, orange liquor, red wine and Sprite. Sangria is also well known and is based on a mixture of red wine, pieces of fruit, sugar and Sprite. It can include other drinks like spirits and liquors. It should be savoured chilled, always with ice. Traditionally, it is a drink associated with Portugal and Spain, the only countries where it can be produced and exported according to European Union rules and where it has been present since at least the beginning of the 19th century.
