The prize was awarded by Construir newspaper, which specialises in construction and real estate
Vila Galé won in the “Tourism Promoter of the Year” category of the Construir Awards, presented on 16th October in Lisbon by the newspaper specialising in construction and real estate. In 2023, the hotel chain stood out for opening four units in Portugal, two of which resulted from the rehabilitation and conversion of historic properties.
“It is very gratifying to receive this distinction and acknowledgement for our work and investment in the restoration of historic heritage, one of the Vila Galé group's goals since the beginning. We believe that in this way we contribute to preserving what makes our culture special and we are able to have unique products in our portfolio, ones that are genuine and impossible to replicate”, says Vila Galé's Marketing and Sales Director, Pedro Ribeiro.
In the last few months, Vila Galé has opened the Vila Galé Collection Monte do Vilar, an agrotourism unit aimed at people over 16, and Vila Galé Nep Kids, a hotel designed for the little ones, where adults can only enter if accompanied by children, both at Herdade do Clube de Campo, in Beja. The total investment exceeded 17 million euros.
It also opened its first project in the Azores, Vila Galé Collection São Miguel, in the heart of Campo de São Francisco, in the centre of Ponta Delgada. A historic boutique hotel with 92 rooms, it also has two restaurants - one with buffet service and the other à la carte - where the regional cuisine is highlighted, two bars, an outdoor swimming pool, a Satsanga Spa & Wellness, and venues for events. Representing an investment of 15 million euros, Vila Galé Collection São Miguel has been set up in the building where the former São Francisco hospital used to be.
Vila Galé Collection Tomar was the fourth hotel opened this year, with an investment of over 15 million euros, to refurbish two of the city's emblematic buildings: the former Santa Iria Convent and the former Colégio Feminino. Located in the historic centre, next to the Nabão River, it offers 100 rooms, outdoor swimming pools for adults and with slides for children, a children's playground, Satsanga Spa & Wellness with a heated indoor pool, a restaurant, and two bars, as well as a games room, library, chapel, gardens, event spaces, and a car park with a charging station for electric vehicles.
Each year, the Construir awards aim to highlight merit and excellence in the construction industry, honouring the companies responsible for the projects, building, or promotion of works that have stood out the most that year.
