Val Moreira wines stood out among more than 6,000 wines in a German competition
Val Moreira Colheita Branco 2019 (white), from Quinta do Val Moreira, owned by the Vila Galé group in the Douro, has just won the gold medal at Challenge International du Vin, the prestigious French competition, where wines from all over the world compete.
Each wine is evaluated in blind tasting rounds by a tasting panel that includes a wine professional, a wine producer, a distributor, and an experienced consumer, so the winners reflect the demands and taste of the market.
With fresh aromas, with citrus, floral and mineral notes, Val Moreira Colheita Branco 2019 wine has structure, very good acidity and a persistent finish, and it pairs perfectly with appetizers, fish dishes, some white meats, and cheeses.
This is another award won by the wines of Quinta do Val Moreira. Recently, also the Val Moreira Reserva Tinto 2018 (red) was doubly distinguished in Mundus Vini. Held in Germany, this is one of the most important competitions worldwide, where an international jury, made up of winemakers, wine professionals, sommeliers, and journalists specialised in this field, evaluates the wines in blind tasting rounds.
This year, out of the more than 6,000 wines in competition, only 43, including the Val Moreira Reserva Tinto 2018, earned the Grand Gold medal, awarded exclusively to wines with a score of 95 or more points. This wine also won the award for Best of Show Douro – Best Douro Wine.
