Pointed as one of the main leaders of tourism, the president of the Vila Galé hotel chain, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, was honored during the 1st National Tourism Prize. The initiative, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, the National Tourism Council (CNT) and Grupo Globo, awarded the distinction to the industry leaders who stood out throughout 2018. The ceremony was held in the City of Arts in Rio de Janeiro.
"We have the constant concern to create something different and innovative in the hotel industry, valuing the tourist offer of Brazil. When choosing a city to invest, we always seek to develop the region as a whole by hiring locals and local suppliers, for example. At Vila Galé Touros, our most recent investment, more than 300 professionals from the region were hired. Tourism can be the great engine of the country's development, generating employment and income for millions of Brazilians, "explains Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, president of the Vila Galé network.
Held in the City of Arts, in Rio de Janeiro, the event also had the Meeting of Tourism Leaders to discuss the low exploitation of tourism potential in the country. Several personalities, entrepreneurs and entities linked to tourism participated in the ceremony.
