The chain's first hotels in the state of Maranhão will be located in the former buildings of the Public Defender's Office and Casa do Maranhão
Vila Galé and the Government of Maranhão formalised on Tuesday (17) the concession of two historic buildings in the centre of São Luís for the establishment of the chain's first hotels in the state. The concession agreement was signed at a ceremony at the Palácio dos Leões, attended by the chain's founder and chairman, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, and Governor Carlos Brandão.
With an investment of R$105 million, the new projects, named Vila Galé Collection São Luís and Vila Galé Collection Maranhão, will have 67 and 45 rooms, respectively, and will carry the seal of the Collection sub-brand, which is known for its premium developments and boutique hotels.
“We're going to turn the first buildings we visited, where the old Public Defender's Office and Casa do Maranhão used to be, into our hotels. The Historic Centre of São Luís is rich in history and beauty, and it enchanted me from our first visit. We are very excited about our arrival in the state”, said Jorge Rebelo de Almeida.
As well as revitalising important historic buildings, the project promises to have a significant impact on the local labour market, generating 300 jobs during the construction phase and 100 permanent positions after the hotels open.
