The Vila Galé Group plans to invest around five million euros in the future hotel Vila Galé Elvas. The project presented for this hotel property features 64 rooms, two restaurants with distinctive gastronomic offer, bar and wine cellar, library, outdoor pool, Satsanga spa with indoor pool, and event hall.
The Vila Galé Elvas hotel will generate 25 to 30 jobs. It will result of the rehabilitation of the former Convento de São Paulo, in the historical center of the Alentejo town, with the opening scheduled for 2018.
"We decided to apply for the Convento de São Paulo recovery because we want to contribute to revitalize this city full of history. It is our ambition also to pull the country's interior and for less consolidated areas in a tourist viewpoint, encouraging the population settlement, job creation and wealth generation" explains the president of the Vila Galé Group, Jorge Rebelo de Almeida.
While city-quarter border, Elvas and its fortifications were classified as world heritage in 2012. That is the largest land fortification bastion of the world that also serves as inspiration for the Vila Galé Elvas, whose theme will be the Portuguese fortifications
"We have also invested in the recovery and rehabilitation of the built heritage and that is not being fully tapped", noted Jorge Rebelo de Almeida, referring to the Convento de São Paulo.
In addition to its religious use, extinguished with the end of the religious orders, this property, built between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, was also a Military Court until 2004, ending after coming to degrade.
With 20 hotels in Portugal and seven in Brazil, the Vila Galé Group, is also developing four other hotels. In Portugal has already started the construction of the Vila Galé Porto Ribeira, in the area of "Cais das Pedras" in Oporto. It is foreseen for this charming unit with 67 rooms, represents an investment between seven and eight million euros, is completed between late 2017 and early 2018. In Braga will arise Vila Galé Braga, recently announced resulting of the rehabilitation of São Marcos old hospital, whose project is being finalized for further submission to approval. And in Sintra is being developed a five-star hotel and vacation apartments project, which have a strong element of health, well-being and various medical services.
In Brazil, on Touros beach, in Rio Grande do Norte, continues in the licensing stage a resort with about 500 rooms, three restaurants, spa Satsanga and convention center, an investment of 28 million euros.
